Florin Spineanu, born 14/09/1953, graduated the Faculty of Physics in 1977 and the Faculty of Mathematics in 1986, both at the University of Bucharest. He got his PhD in 1992 with a thesis on the functional methods in plasma theory. He works in plasma physics for thermonuclear fusion research and in connected fields: coherent flows, field theoretical methods for fluids/plasmas. In recent studies he developed action functionals for the Euler fluid and for the planetary atmosphere and derived a differential equation that describes well the tropical cyclone at stationarity. He has spent more than nine years in research centres in France, Japan, Italy, Belgium, Holland. He is currently the Head of Research Unit of the EURATOM-MEdC Association and represents Romania in several committees related with fusion research.
